Le Lavandou

Today was beach day for us, so we headed off to Le Lavandou. We discovered this ville about a month ago and it quickly became one of my favorite places to hang out. It is located about 1 hour east of us and it has one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever been to. It actually has a sandy beach and not a rocky beach (which many of the beaches here in the south of France are). It stretches for miles and allows some room between you and the next person even on crowded days. I have found that this is somewhat of a luxury here. There are so many beaches along the coast but very little room on quite a bit of them.

There is also a very nice boardwalk all along the ville that you can leisurely stroll on. No bikes, skateboards, blades or scooters allowed. Along the board walk there are cute little seaside restaurants were you can sit and take in a delicious meal or cool drink. Across the street from the boardwalk/beach are shops to browse in and more formal restaurants (although you will find a pizzeria or two alongside them for those of us folks who are less formal).

For those of you who don’t really like the “shock factor”, as I call it, beware, there are quite a few topless women—some of whom should NOT be, if you get my drift (as this is allowed and welcomed in France) and guys in speedos (not welcomed in my book-unless your name happens to be Hugh Jackman!)

I just wanted to give you the heads-up so that I don’t get any nasty emails from people who take my advice and visit this grand ville saying I should have warned them!

You have formally been warned.
