Scenic Drive To Chateauvert

When out on one of our weekend road trips we happened upon a beautiful drive in the countryside near a town call Chateauvert. It winds through the vineyards and follows a river. We were lucky enough to find a terrific spot to have a picnic that was right next to the river, under a beautiful tree and across from a large vineyard.

The day was absolutely gorgeous and we found ourselves to be the only one around. Not a single car passed us while we enjoyed our picnic.

Just as we were about to leave a local farmer drove by on his tractor. I captured a photo of him. He was so adorable.

On our way towards Chateauvert there is, as we learned from some nice English climbers, that this area was famous for anyone who loves to repel. Apparently, people come from all around to this relatively small area to spend the day or week repelling. There are also some cool caves to explore. Dude and Tinki ventured up to a cave. Dude actually made it to the inside, but I was too chicken and preferred to stay below and take the photos (and speak with the nice people from England).

Just across from the caves and rocks there was a lovely path that was covered with trees and ran just alongside another river. That was more my speed. All in all, it was a lovely drive and way to spend the day. Although, I have no plans for repelling in the future.

If you want to see a few more photos of my day, they appear on Flickr. To get there just click on the “More Photos” option under Recent Pictures.
