Pretty In Pink

Well, it’s that time again, time for another episode of French Fashion Faux pas. I’m actually am a bit fond of this one cuz you know what it tells me? Is tells me that this guy is comfortable with himself and I like that in a man.

He’s ALL about pink, now isn’t he?! I don’t know about you, but not even my daughters would wear shorts that shade of pink.

He has a ton going on, too.

Let’s break it down now, shall we? First and secondly, that pink bandana and pink shorts. These are like, baby girl, pink, too. A color a mom would bring her first newborn daughter home in from the hospital after she had 5 boys! I know that I personally have never owned anything that shade before. I believe it’s even too feminine for me!

Now, let’s take a look at that bag he’s holding. What’s going on with that?! It looks like there may be a tad bit of pink going on there, as well, and maybe even a bit of purple. I see he likes to live dangerously.

Of course, he’s got my personal favorite, the man purse. We all know how much I love that accessory for men! He went all out on that, too since it’s as big as my purse. I’m just disappointed that is isn’t some other shade of pink 😦

Then to top it off, he’s wearing a white, wife beater shirt! That’s hil-air-ious! Nothing says manly like a wife beater. Love it! I guess that’s the reason why he feels comfortable in his pinkness, no one messes with a guy wearing a wife beater no matter what else he’s sporting!

I can hear him now, “I’m feeling a bit feminine today, I’d better throw in some masculinity for balance!”

In all honesty, folks, I really do love this stuff because these European guys will wear anything and not care. Most guys in the states (not all-mind you) are too caught up in their masculinity and wouldn’t be caught dead wearing pink (unless they live in Frisco 🙂 ). I like a man with a touch of femininity to him (personally that’s one of the reasons I married Dude, cuz he’s a Dude but with a chick mix to him).

So you know what I say about men and pink?  I say “Go for it”, especially if you want to be featured on my blog!

About backyardprovence

I was finally able to realized my dream of living in France when I moved here in 2010. I love to read,I love history and road trips. I want to be doing anything outside in the fresh air. I want to have an entire room devoted to a personal library.

  1. It’s the shopping bag that gets me!

There is no excuse for any man carrying a shopping bag like that!

    All the best

    Keith

P.S. We might be a bit more backward that you “Southerners” but, in Brittany it is still actually illegal for a man to wear pink!

  2. Are those pale toenails, or is there pink polish there, too?

  3. Gosh, I thought you were showing us all a picture of Dudes fashion status for a minute. I do quite like the bag. I might even buy one for myself. Good for him, he obviously isn’t shy! Now let’s see some with Dude in PINK.

    • Stephen-
He actually does have a pink shirt that he bought in the states. He has proudly worn it here which is a total crack up since when he bought it he had to ask me if I approved! When we can find it in the midst of the move, I think I will try to get him to wear it. Who knows, it just might show up one day here!

  4. Can’t wait, you have got to get a snapshot of him if Dude does wear it. Brave man. Dare I ask how the renovation is going. I am really enjoying following the progress.

    • Stephen-
The renovation is progressing very slowly, but then again, I am in France and add that to being in Provence, I guess I can’t expect it to go at the speed of light! It’s mostly just because we are basically doing an entire house remodel and Dude is the only one doing ALL the work. A one man job entire remodel is expected to be slow. I will just be happy to have my own room someday. I’m not really the camping type and this is the second major camp out we’ve had in the past 10 months! I think once this is over, camping just might be off my list!

  5. My children would not let me out the door if I tried to walk out the door with pink shorts only, a pink bandana only, a wife beater shirt only or a man purse; but to go out in public with all four, that would get me locked up in a psych ward even if I do live close to San Francisco. This wouldn’t fly even in San Francisco. No, not for me!

    • Michel-
I think you should try leaving the house with at least ONE of those items (maybe when you go to your restaurant!). You never know, you could start a trend 🙂 I would shoot for the pink bandana. Then you can tell everyone that it is fast becoming all the rage in Provence:) They would probably believe you…..

  6. My husband will wear pink shirts to work. With his grey hair, it looks good. And he does have a half pink half green pair of shorts…but I swear that’s not him in your photo.

    • My husband has a couple of pink shirts, too, but I attest to the fact that he does NOT own a pair of shorts in any shade of pink. I think for him that would be too much. He also knows that I am ready at all times to snap a photo and probably doesn’t want to end up here as a fashion arrest! I am so glad that you cleared up the fact that this was not your hubby. If we ever meet I wouldn’t want to recognize him from the photo 🙂

  7. I am pleased to hear it. He’s a brave man. But at the end of the day, it is only a color! You do see a lot more men wearing Pink these days in the UK. No one seems to care much. I also think that older men can get away with a lot easier.

  8. Yes, I can see where you are coming from. I did a renovation job myself a few years back, it is a hard slog. I did have my son helping me out now and again though, he was doing pretty much the same as you are doing for Dude. Just keep telling yourselves that it will all be worth it in the end. Believe me “it is”.

    • Thanks for the encouragement. I keep telling myself the same thing. Fortunately, I really do believe it. I figure I should so that I don’t psychologically damage myself 🙂 It might take a few years to be perfect, but we suspected that in the beginning. Just the basics for me will do right now and then I think I will be able to feel a lot better. I also think I might be the only woman who doesn’t care about not having a kitchen! Just a room and heat will be fine for now 🙂

  9. Yes, I think it is mostly teenagers that have a problem with wearing pink. Personally though, I think I would draw the line at wearing pink socks. Lol.

  10. Oh my gosh I love this. I’ve got to start snapping photos of French fashion faux pas in Burgundy too. Problem: I doubt my hard drive is big enough to hold them all. But then how can we talk? You’ve seen the photo collections of Wal Martians? And I’m sure they’re mostly taken in my home state of SC. Thanks for the fun post!

    • Lynn-
I about died laughing on your “Wal Martians” comment! I had never heard that before, but starting today it is a house hold word for me 🙂 I have to confess it is really fun snapping these shots. The hard part is not letting the subject know it! You should definitely have some fun in Burgundy with this!

  11. This Guy shows that this what happens when you have not washed your clothes for three weeks and have no choice but wear whatever is left at thé bottom of your ward robe.I wear thé open neck shirt but not in public places. I am waiting to look like Hugh Jackman for that!
