I can never say enough how much I love the area in which I live. The minute I leave my house and turn down the first street, I am hit with the most magnificent views of hills and vineyards.
Dude and I have started taking evening strolls since the weather has warmed up and the sun hangs in the sky until nearly 10pm (I love that). We tried to take a stroll during lunch one day, but it’s now proving to be too hot so I guess we will stick to our early evening walks.
The center of town in our village is small compared to some, but there are many houses and streets that surround it. There are also some nice hikes in the area and one of them is easy to get to once I leave my front door. I heard from the town maire that our village consisted of only a little more than 1000 people in 1970 and over the last 40 years has grown to be around 6000. Even though that is still a relatively small number, the growth is impressive. I guess everyone else likes the surrounding scenery, too! As a result of the growth, there are a number of really nice areas in which to walk and take in not only the view, but all the different styles of houses. It makes for a very enjoyable evening.
The last couple of days and evenings we have been venturing out more often. Come and take a quick stroll with me. I love sharing what is literally, in my back yard.
Yesterday evening Tinki and I went for a walk for about an hour. It was good to get out and enjoy the extra daylight we have now. The trees and flowers continue to bloom and the weather has warmed up from a few months ago, but it’s still not up to par for me. I would like for it to get just a tad bit warmer. I don’t like to be freezing cold and I don’t like to be burning up either which is one of the reasons why spring is my favorite season. That and all the flowers and trees blooming, of course! Usually the weather is just right for me, but this spring I feel like I’m getting gypped. All the nice days were in March and once April rolled around the good weather left us.
Over the last couple weeks the wind has continued to blow and it’s been cloudy most days. Even when we have reached decent temperatures during the day, the evening gets pretty cold in my village when the sun goes down.
As Tinki and I took off for our outing, it was still warm enough to not have to wear a jacket, but by the time we returned home, the wind had kicked up again pretty strong and it was cold. Good thing we decided to bring our jackets with us.
We only lasted for an hour before it got too cold and windy, but that was long enough to snap some photos of the most recent blooms.
While on my way to the office in the morning, I came upon Mr. Speedo. I totally love how he is sporting only his diaper-like speedo, a bag for his goodies, socks and sneakers. He was super serious and really into his walking.
I guess he thinks that the less he wears, the faster he can go. It could be a possibility(?). By the time I got to my building, parked the car, went up to my office and looked out the window (just to see if he was coming my way), he had actually made it all the way up the hill, rounded the corner , had just passed my window and was heading up another street.
He might have something going there. I will, however, not be testing this theory. I don’t want to end up on someone else’s blog, thank you very much!
